Who am I?

I am a Chartered Accountant operating in Golden Bay, working with clients from Golden Bay, Tasman and Nelson. Green Grass Accounting Services was setup in 2012 due to relocating to the area. Previously I worked for 7 years at WHK (formerly West Yates) in Nelson starting as a graduate accountant and working my way up to a senior accountant role. I also obtained my Chartered Accountant status with the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2009.

I have worked since 2005 with small medium enterprises in all industries including agriculture and horticulture. I have dealt with all taxation matters during this time including PAYE returns, GST returns, FBT returns and RWT returns so have a broad range of knowledge.

I have been married to Holly since 2004 and we have four young children - Oliver, Harmony, Alfie and Arthur. We relocated to Golden Bay to be closer to Holly’s family and to enjoy the quieter lifestyle.

It may surprise you to find out I am actually have severe to profound hearing loss. While born hearing, I have been through a progressive hearing loss until my late twenties. In 2009 I received a cochlear implant - an amazing piece of technology that has restored my hearing to such a degree I can once again communicate on the telephone. I normally refer to it as a sophisticated hearing aid but it involved an operation to insert electrodes into my cochlear to stimulate it using electrical impulses. Please feel free to ask me questions about it!

My parents are both deaf and Oliver has been diagnosed with a moderate hearing loss. So I am fluent with New Zealand Sign Language, the third official language in New Zealand. Don’t worry - I am also fluent in English and generally have no difficulty communicating!

I operate from my current home on Takaka Valley Highway so we have low overheads enabling us to offer you affordable accounting services. Holly runs a business called Kakato producing healthy and nutritious goodies, while she is not busy home schooling the children. Jana is my office administrator, she works part time in the office and helps to support my growing business. While I prefer to visit you onsite to provide accountancy services, you are also welcome to visit us at our office.
